Subject: Physics
The Physics Extension Day at the University of Bath involves teams of school children from across Bath and Wiltshire competing to build the best water rocket.
Participants spend the day building, testing and refining their invention before launching their rockets from the University grounds. They work with staff and students from the Department of Physics to investigate Newton's Laws of Motion and apply them to their construction. For the build they use plastic bottles, tennis balls, card and other scraps to make their rockets.
The Physics Extenton Day is organised by the University's Outreach team in partnership with the Department of Physics to offer local pupils opportunities for learning that are not generally available at school.
Years 9 & 10 students.
