The challenges and opportunities of incorporating community-based learning into STEM subjects

Lead Institution: University of Bristol
Collaborating with: Bournemouth University, University of the West of England

This is a sub-project of Get STEM working: innovation with employer and student engagement

Outputs > Community Based Learning: Experiences from the University of Bristol

A report was written by the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) to understand what had been learnt through the development of this new way of working at the University of Bristol. The report contains perspectives of students, academics and community partners to give an overall view of the project and some interesting learning - useful for anyone looking to take on community-based placements.

Community Based Learning: Experiences from the University of Bristol

The project built on learning from the NCCPE’s work on student volunteering and community-based learning  – including the Learning Framework, Framework for the Assessment of Student Learning from Public Engagement, which articulates the ways in which students learn from community engagement.
