Follow Up Workshop in November 2011

Addressing the needs of employers: writing development and other forms of engagement on undergraduate STEM programmes

In November 2011 this project's lead, Trevor Day, joined forces with Barrie Cooper, lead for the HE STEM project, the Student-led Employability Audit Toolkit, to run a workshop at Manchester Metropolitan University for interested parties – subject specialists, learning developers and others. The purpose was to examine approaches to mapping employability skills, and to share good practice in meeting the demands of academic requirements and the needs of employers.

What emerged at the workshop were the many and various strategies for engaging with stakeholders' vested interests, in the realisation that graduates' employability skills concern us all.

Trevor Day's presentation is available.

A similar workshop was held at the American Museum near Bath, organised by the University of Bath, on 16th February 2011.
