A project blog was used to swiftly disseminate the findings of Bath’s research to the project partners, and to provide a platform for all partners to share and discuss good practice among STEM disciplines. The project leader, University of Bath’s Dr Trevor Day – a science writer, and writing development facilitator and researcher – visited project partners and posted entries on the blog to highlight emerging issues and examples of good practice.
The project culminated in a good practice conference in September 2011 at which regional and non-regional project partners presented workshops, and the implications of the Bath research findings were explored. The project has been disseminating its findings through conferences, workshops and symposia and ultimately aims to seed research and development projects in which sound writing development practice can be further embedded within STEM disciplines.
The final project report was submitted to National HE STEM on the 28 October 2011. Various activities were developed after the formal project end date, including the creation of a special interest group, a themed edition of the Journal of Learning Development in Higher Education, and dissemination workshops.
