Becoming a STEM Enthusiast - Outreach & CPD Video Resources

Lead Institution: University of Exeter
Collaborating with: Bournemouth University, Plymouth University

Project Outputs

The project has developed a total of 32 video clips, a mixture of short (no more than a couple of minutes) and longer (up to 10 minutes) productions. The videos include both staff and student perspectives and have two broad uses:

  • Videos for use in outreach
  • Videos for use in staff development

The videos are for generic use; they are not University of Exeter-branded. Please feel free to incorporate them however you deem fit into your outreach, teaching or staff development activities; a range of activity ideas as to how you might use the videos have been developed to kickstart your thinking.

You can search, view and download the videos through the categories below:

  1. Outreach - Making Choices: Why Choose STEM Subjects? (1 short clip, 1 long clip)
  2. Outreach - Stepping Up: Studying STEM Subjects at University (2 long clips)
  3. Outreach - Why choose Maths? (3 short clips, 1 long clip)
  4. Outreach - Why choose Physical Sciences? (5 short clips)
  5. Outreach - Why choose Engineering? (1 short clip)
  6. Outreach - Research in STEM Subjects (5 short clips)
  7. Staff Development - Active Learning (4 short clips, 1 long clip)
  8. Staff Development - Research-led Teaching (7 short clips, 1 long clip)

Alongside the videos, the project has also produced a range of resources to stimulate uptake of the videos both across Exeter and wider afield. These include a range of activity ideas for how to use the videos, whether you be an outreach practitioner, teacher or staff developer.
