The seminar was the first of two for the Transition & Induction Experiences of WP Students project and was held at the University of Exeter on 7th June 2011; a follow-up seminar was held at Bournemouth University in May 2012. The Exeter seminar focused on sharing ways of enhancing the transition and induction experiences of first year students on STEM programmes and included contributions from the following speakers:

25 people attended the event from both regional and national universities, allowing for a range of discussions and networking to take place.

Following the seminar, a briefing paper was  produced which: summarised findings from project work thus far; highlighted other relevant projects across the sector and captured core learning from the first seminar. The briefing paper can be downloaded below:
